This year’s WIIT Woman of the Year award was presented to EU Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström. This award honors a woman who is well-known and highly respected in the profession of international trade. Evelyn Suarez had the privilege of presenting the award at a ceremony in Washington DC on April 24, 2017.

In her address, Malmström spoke on how trade can help promote gender equality as well as how that equality can enhance global GDP. She will also be furthering this topic at an international forum on women in trade this June in Brussels.
